My Approach to Helping
Through my master's level social work intern that I supervise under the auspices of Arizona State University, affordable counseling is available! Reach out to me for more information regarding this opportunity.
I provide mental health services for couples, families, and individuals affected by low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and other adverse issues.
My therapeutic approach involves helping people resolve their presenting concerns as well as the underlying reasons for these concerns. This mode of treatment is considered short-term and yet promotes long-term health as current symptoms and the root causes of distress are both addressed.
What makes the model short-term is the experiential focus of the treatment. Focusing on your here-and-now experience tends to accelerate treatment and resolve your issues faster than models that have you discuss your issues in the abstract.
I am one of a very limited number of therapists in Arizona with advanced training in intensive short-term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTDP). ISTDP is an empirically-supported, attachment-centered modality that focuses on emotional intimacy, closeness, and healing wounds due to relational ruptures. When skillfully administered, the model greatly increases the potential for clients to heal and grow.
I also believe in helping individuals develop healthy, effective skills that they may use in their everyday life. During treatment, you may learn positive techniques that will help you to get the most out of your relationships as you move forward.
