My Approach to Helping
My approach begins with sensitive consideration for who you are and why you seek therapy. Perhaps something painful is going on, or you struggle with love, work, family, or self. You may be depressed or anxious, or highly self-critical, or reliant on unhealthy coping behaviors, or stuck in a routine. You haven't been able to turn the corner on your own, and you seek an effective therapist to help you do so.
In my private practice in Manhattan Beach I specialize in psychodynamic therapy, a leading, powerful form of talk therapy. You and I explore the issues that concern you. I help you unravel webs of feeling underlying your choices and actions, and we connect the present to your past and future in new ways. I am continually surprised by how transforming this work can be. It brings change and growth, helping you become a person who is more alive, integrated, productive, and loving.
Therapy can be effective AND enjoyable. It's a safe space to figure things out and co-create change. I'm easy to talk to, and open to humor. Most people I work with look forward to sessions and feel rewarded and revitalized by them.
