My Approach to Helping
Emma Blevins is a Resident in Counseling with 2 years of experience providing art therapy and counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. Emma is now also offering services to couples for relationship counseling. Emma completed her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Psychology at Old Dominion University and her Master of Science (MS) in Art Therapy and Counseling at Eastern Virginia Medical School. She utilizes a person-centered and strengths-based approach to counseling and draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, and mindfulness approaches on an individualized basis to meet the unique needs of each client. Emma also offers art therapy services in conjunction with verbal counseling, which provides an additional method of self-expression, self-reflection, and healing for clients. Emma seeks to build a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship in which her clients are free to explore their thoughts and feelings in an accepting and nonjudgmental environment, and she works collaboratively with clients to help them meet their goals.
