My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Psychological Practitioner who works with children, adolescents, and young adults with a variety of learning, developmental, andor emotional challenges. Using data from a comprehensive psychological assessment, my goal is to uncover each individual’s unique strengths and challenges and then design a personalized action plan based on areas of need.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
During a psychological evaluation, I really think of my job as being a good detective, looking layer by layer in a really holistic and comprehensive way at your (or your child?s) skills and abilities in order to best discern what is getting in the way of functioning at hisher potential.
At the end of the process, you get a very clear picture of who your child is as a learner, a thinker, a social and emotional being...you will understand their unique profile of strengths and weaknesses and *what* may be getting in her way. This is the information that is then utilized to formulate a very specific plan or roadmap for exactly how to help based on hisher unique profile. The recommendations are thoughtful and specific.
Each of my evaluations is unique, because it is tailored specifically to you or your child's needs and the questions you have. However, my comprehensive evaluations usually include assessment of cognitive skills, visual-spatial skills, attention and executive functions, problem-solving, language, memory, sensorimotor functioning, and social-emotional skills. Testing of other areas, like academics, is also included.
