My Approach to Helping
I believe that empathy and warmth infused with humor are imperative to building clinical relationships. As a counselor, I want you to feel good about counseling; we will build a relationship grounded in trust and respect. This means we will engage in conversations in which we collaborate, talk openly about your goals, and work together to support therapeutic outcomes. I understand the import of resiliency and attend to language, cultural contexts, gender identity, and diversity as well as strengths and limitations of the individual and their environment.
I recognize that many across the nation are still affected by the growing impact of COVID-19. I recognize that adjusting to this new normal can be stressful and exhausting. For some, this pandemic has exacerbated pre-existing feelings of depression, anxiety, and grief. While there remains a stigma associated with seeking mental health support, taking steps toward self care through counseling demonstrates strength. Together we can develop an individualized strengths based approach to meet your needs in treatment.
