My Approach to Helping
Dr. Bruce Rumsey brings over twenty years of experience helping individuals, couples, families, groups, and organizations transition through life’s challenges to find stable ground. His approach is warm, engaging, and directional, assisting people in rediscovering their inner resources to overcome hardships and maximize their skills and talents. He earned his Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy, from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). Additionally, he is certified in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). As a member of the national honor society Chi Sigma Iota, Dr. Rumsey upholds the highest standards of the counseling profession.
With over a decade of experience as a full-time graduate faculty member in the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, Dr. Rumsey currently serves as an associate professor at Argosy University, where he was honored as an outstanding faculty member in 2012. His extensive academic background enriches his therapeutic practice, ensuring his clients benefit from the latest research and evidence-based techniques. Throughout his career, Dr. Rumsey has supervised master—and doctorate-level clinicians, provided executive coaching and training, and presented his model of change in various educational and training settings. He has also facilitated multiple relationship workshops, helping couples and families build stronger, healthier connections.
