My Approach to Helping
I have been providing mental health and substance abuse services since 2008. I strive to provide my patients a safe and non-judgmental environment. I utilize a trauma-focused approach. I realize that trauma can impact our mental, emotional, physical, and behavioral well-being. I help my patients to understand their trauma, learn healthy coping strategies, and process memories and emotions that are tied to the trauma.
I am trained in cognitive behavioral and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT).
Call today to schedule an appointment. If I am unable to take your call, please feel free to leave a message, and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
More Info About My Practice
Everything starts with a call to get an appointment set up. During the phone call, we will talk and it is a time to see if this is the appropriate fit for you. If the fit is good, an appointment will be set and you will come in to complete necessary paperwork and your assessment. This appointment lasts approximately 60-90 minutes.
Following the initial appointment, the second session includes identifying goals that you would like to work on. Remember, these are your goals and they will be used to guide on-going therapy sessions. We will work at integrating and regulating your emotions and physical self. We will develop tools for you to utilize in times of pain. We will challenge negative thoughts and behaviors, and identify positive options. These sessions are 45-50 minutes in length and occur weekly or every other week depending on your need.
You can expect to experience new emotions and thought processes, but the path to get there can cause some uncomfortable emotions at times. Along the way, the trust will continue to grow. I will help you to challenge negative beliefs. At times I will challenge you to step out of your comfort zone. This is all to assist you in healing your wounds.
