What's My Approach to Therapy?

I believe therapy should be practical and actionable to help you get the best results and achieve positive lasting change as quickly as possible. As a client-centered therapist, I work collaboratively and offer an individualized approach to meet clients where they're at in their personal growth journey. My services are evidence- (i.e., science) based, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, mindful, integrative, and compassionate.

Having been practicing for over 13 years, I have expertise in mental health, ADHD, trauma, attachment, addiction, acquired brain injury, and mindfulness-based practices. My therapeutic approach is informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (inner child parts work), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), ADHD coaching, and InterpersonalRelational Psychotherapy, among other modalities. I am additionally certified as a Kundalini yoga instructor and have completed extensive research and clinical work with Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, which is a gentle approach that emphasizes the health benefits associated with cultivating deeper awareness in the present moment through grounding, relaxation training, meditative exercises, and mindfulness more generally.

My work is shaped most by trauma-informed models integrating sensorimotor psychotherapy, polyvagal theory, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment science, and IFS. I’m also guided by Compassionate Inquiry and elements of EFT to help clients understand their emotions with clarity and compassion.

My work is inspired by interpersonal neurobiology and the science of neuroplasticity, which refers to the brain's potential for flexibility, learning, adaptability, and healing. I tend to integrate scientific information (psychoeducation) about human psychology, such as brain, and body functioning to help clients make sense of their experiences and see their challenges from a normalizing, non-judgmental, compassionate view. Many clients find this information to be very helpful, hopeful, and empowering, as it gives us a holistic roadmap for resolving their issues.

My Practice & Services

I’m designated as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) in good standing with The College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and able to offer services throughout Canada and internationally. I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Victoria, and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from McMaster University with a Specialization in Cognition and Perception. I recently completed a doctor of psychology (PsyD) at California Southern University. My doctoral research was on ADHD, trauma, and attachment, which has provided me with a specialization in the interpersonal neurobiological treatment of ADHD and trauma. I am additionally interested in diversity and culturally sensitive practices and have training in this area.

I look forward to exploring how my services can support you on your personal journey.

My Therapy Focus

Client-centred trauma-informed therapy is all about creating a safe space that respects clients' needs, insights, and readiness, and fosters increased compassionate connection with themselves. Good therapy helps clients uncover the answers within themselves.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

My scheduling approach is collaborative and flexible based on what works best for you and your particular needs for support and access to services, etc. Clients usually like to see me more frequently initially and decrease frequency over time as they see improvement, but we can explore what's best for you.
