My Approach to Helping
Welcome! I'm glad you're here. Therapy can be one of the most challenging but also most rewarding things we can pursue in this life. I look forward to embarking on the journey with you.
My approach to therapy is person-centered and insight-oriented. In other words, I provide a genuine and empathic space where individuals can safely explore life's challenges in order to reach their full potential. I customize my interventions to fit the client with the goal of increasing awareness. Therapeutic techniques can be adapted to short or long-term goals, depending on the needs and interests of the client.
The techniques I utilize most are drawn from client-centered, existential, and acceptance and commitment therapy modalities, but skills such as mindfulness and self-compassion, as well as ideas borrowed from cognitive behavioral therapy, find their way into treatment sessions. I view therapy as a collaboration between myself and the client. You are the expert on your own experience, whereas I am the guide to help you locate blind spots and lead you to deeper levels of understanding.
My interventions remain flexible because my most rewarding experiences as a therapist have been growing the treatment with clients as they progress and learn new things about themselves.
In addition, I only offer telehealth and treat clients who are at least 18 years old. Virtual sessions are easy to access and integrated into my Client Portal. New client registration can also be completed entirely online, because I know how anxiety, attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD), and a myriad of other obstacles can interfere with making a phone call to schedule a first appointment.
