My Approach to Helping
My ideal client is an adult (18 yo - 64 yo), who is facing life challenges such as self-esteem issues, grief, life transitions, work related stress, parenting challenges, academic or career related issues, among other challenges - that manifest' itself as excessive worry or sadness, andor not feeling seen or understood. Here at Mending Blanket Therapy I think that Therapy should be a positive experience. I believe that therapy should begin by focusing on the relationship between client and therapist, the Therapeutic Alliance, as commonly referred to. And treatment should strive to assist the client to feel empowered, resilient, self-accepted, and better equipped to handle life's varying stressors. I am honored to be in the position of assisting clients to thrive. It is indeed a gift to be able to aide clients with establishing meaningful relationships and healthy connections with the ones they love. When appropriate I also aim to assist clients with learning and utilizing more adaptive means of interacting with others in their daily lives. Lastly the treatment services that I offer clients are rooted in an approach that is client centered, collaborative, non-judgmental, and strength based.
My therapeutic approaches are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused, and Psychodynamic. My therapeutic lens has a foundation rooted in understanding that lasting change and growth in therapy begins with a trusting and supportive therapeutic alliance between client and therapist. I believe that in order to thrive in our lives it is helpful to be aware of the conscious and unconscious mind. In a safe and supportive setting, I aim to make clients aware of patterns of thought and behavior that can generally be considered maladaptive in nature. It is through heightened awareness that we can make lasting changes in our thoughts, feelings, and behavior, in order to live fulfilling and satisfying lives.
