Gilbert is a town in Maricopa County, Arizona. It covers 68 square miles. The town was incorporated on July 6, 1920. 

Gilbert has a population of 242,000 people. The population increased by 16% from 2010 to 2017. Ninety-seven percent of residents are American citizens (compared to 93% of people nationwide). 

The racial composition of Gilbert is 71% white, 16% Hispanic, 6% Asian, and 3% black. Foreign-born people make up 9% of the population. Fourteen percent of residents have a native language that is not English. Gilbert is home to 15,200 Spanish speakers, 2,800 Tagalog speakers, and 2.200 Vietnamese speakers.
