My name is Karen Wind. I have been a licensed professional counselor (LPC) for almost 19 years. I am also a NCC - National Certified Counselor and a Clinically Certified Sex Offender Treatment Specialist. I believe in a person-centered, solution-focused approach to counseling. I see myself as a guide on a path to greater self-discovery. The client determines what they want to work on.
I see life as a journey. Along the way, we experience a wide variety of circumstances. These shape the way we view the world and how we respond to daily life. Sometimes we get stuck in old patterns that no longer serve us optimally. My approach to therapy is to ferret out these outdated patterns and beliefs and help replace them with more productive ways of thinking and being. Each person is unique so I employ a variety of treatment modalities depending on the individual. They include Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy.
