My Approach to Helping
Perhaps you've gotten off track. Regardless of how it happened, know that you're not alone, at times we all need help to get back to True North. I would consider it a privilege to help you on your journey towards freedom. I work to create a client centered approach that provides a safe place to change. Additionally, to treat anxiety and depression, I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. By challenging underlying thought processes, improvement can happen fairly quickly.

My style is calm and caring. I consider it a privilege to be trusted by my client enough to be let into the some of the deepest parts of their lives. I don't take the journey we enter into in therapy lightly. I offer Christian Counseling upon request.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I feel that I am most adept at helping individuals struggling with depression and anxiety. I use a type of therapy called "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy"... fancy words, that basically mean what we think greatly impacts how we behave and feel. This type of therapy involves some homework, writing out negative thought processes and learning to refute them. More often than not, if clients apply themselves to the homework, they find their symptoms resolving over time. During this process, I am passionate about helping clients identify the negative thought processes that are fueling the anxiety and/or depression and helping them come up with powerful refutes.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

I often say in therapy, "we all need help from time to time." Therapy doesn't mean you are weak or sick or crazy. In my mind, it means that you've run across something in your life that is outside of your comfort zone; that you don't know how to handle. Therapy can provide tools to equip you to handle this problem and has the added benefit of the therapist being someone outside of your personal life. Sometimes advice from friends and family (while well-meaning) is not helpful during these times, as these individuals are too close to us to see what we really need.
