My Approach to Helping
Brief and longer-term psychotherapy for individuals who wish to create lasting, positive changes in their lives and relationships. My style is interactive, empathic, and respectful of individual values and choices. I am bicultural and enjoy working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. I especially enjoy working with younger adults (20s/30s), people in midlife, attorneys and law students, IT people, and those who are new to therapy. Using a combination of psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral/mindfulness methods, as well as direct coaching, I have helped individuals improve coping with immediate stressors and work toward deeper personal growth.

Some of the issues I can help with are depression, anxiety, relationship problems, grief & loss (recent or delayed). I have specialized training and experience in grief counseling, including Certificate of Completion of the Professional Program in the Study of Loss & Grief, University of California, Berkeley.

Offices in San Francisco, Berkeley, and Walnut Creek. If you have questions, or to set up an initial appointment, please contact me via voicemail or email.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

Since I specialize in working with people who have never been in therapy before, I know that most people feel nervous when thinking about starting. It helps to have an idea what to expect, especially for the first session. That's why I include a list of FAQs on my website. Just click on the "About Psychotherapy" link at the top of my website.
