I believe therapy is a collaboration between us. It's important to establish trust and safety to begin. As we work together, you will have the space to explore difficult and often painful topics. You?re probably struggling with difficult emotions: anger, sadness, and anxiety. The challenges you're dealing with are likely affecting your self-worth and your relationships. I will meet you where you are, encouraging you to grow but in a way that is not overwhelming. I create a safe, nonjudgmental space, where difficult issues can be explored honestly. Three qualities distinguish me as a psychologist: my dedication to my clients, my passion for my work and the quality of care that I provide. Throughout our work together, no matter how difficult the journey is, I stay committed. I provide compassionate guidance and support as you work toward meeting your life goals

More Info About My Practice

If you're reading this, you're ready to make changes in your life. Choosing a therapist is an investment in yourself; it's one of the most important choices you will make. This is why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to discuss your specific needs and to answer any questions you have about therapy. Fees for therapy are $150 per session. I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, and Medicare. If your insurance is not one of these, I can bill insurance companies as an out of network provider.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Ultimately, the purpose of therapy is to help you learn new skills, new ways of understanding yourself, and your relationships. The goal of therapy is for you to use these understandings to help you grow and change in positive ways.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My early life shaped my passion for psychology. I was born and raised in Guyana, a former British colony in the Caribbean. My country suffered a lot of political and economic instability and this impacted my family. I moved to Canada and had to learn to adjust to a whole new culture. This experience of migration and watching my family start over taught me how resilient people can be. How it is possible to come through the fire and create a new life. My migration during childhood, and my later transition to the U.S., as well as my work in different countries and settings, gives me the unique ability to connect to a variety of people. I have a significant appreciation for each individual's uniqueness, while also seeing the common experiences that connect us all.
