My Approach to Helping

I am the best-selling author of 5 books on adult ADHD, and recognized as an expert in the field. I have been in practice for almost 20 years, and blog for Psychology Today and The Huffington Post. I am an AMHCA Diplomate and Clinical Specialist in Child and Adolescent Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I am also a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. I help clients with ADHD, anxiety, pain, and grief recognize and overcome challenges and succeed. I also work with family members to help create a more productive and calmer life at home. I help clients reach their potential at work, home, and in social relationships.

I have first-hand experience with ADHD and I understand a client's experiences. I have been able to succeed with ADHD, and I enjoy helping others achieve the same success. I also am involved in collaborative law and am a parenting coordinator.

I am the author of Natural Relief for Adult ADHD (2015); 10 Simple Solutions to Adult ADD (2006, 2nd edition 2011); Making the Grade with ADD (2008); ADD and Your Money (2009); and Adult ADD: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (2011). Find me at

How Psychotherapy Can Help

When you talk to a neutral person (one who doesn?t favor one side or another), it can help you make challenging life decisions. Counseling provides you a safe place to talk about your concerns. Other counseling techniques (like those used in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) may also help you make positive change in your life.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The amount of sessions you need depends on the individual person. Sometimes people come to an initial session and need a referral; some people come once a week, then every other week, then once a month, then once every three months. We will talk together at your first appointment about the possibility of continuing sessions; we can also talk about whether another method of treatment or another specialist can be of more help to you. The bottom line is that we will work towards what is in your best interest.
