Have you had a distressing life experience that you simply cannot heal from by yourself? Maybe you are in the midst of a roller coaster relationship that causes you to question whether you should stay or go? Or, perhaps you have gotten accustomed to feeling depressed or anxious (or both!) and it almost feels like "the new normal" to you.
We often suffer in silence for longer than we need to, or believe talking to a friend can help us find the answer, only to discover we're still confused. You may need to talk with someone who is objective and professionally trained to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings so that you can move forward and live your life, and maybe I am that person for you.
My working style is compassionate, attentive, and down to earth. I love being a therapist because of the relationship that develops with my clients and the collaboration that blossoms into progress. Your needs are what guide the treatment and working together we can discover the best way to help you move forward. Sometimes you just need someone to walk through it with, and then you find it's not so scary.
My office is located on Fifth Ave in San Rafael and I offer daytime and evening hours. Please give me a call (or email) when you're ready. I offer a 30 minute initial consultation, on the phone, at no charge, to see if I am the right therapist for you. Don't waste another day feeling bad......

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
If you have experienced an adverse life event or trauma that continues to interfere in your ability to feel at peace, or if you suffer from anxiety, depression, or negative thinking patterns that leave you feeling emotionally exhausted, you may benefit from Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, or EMDR for short, which is an empirically validated therapy that can improve or resolve symptoms related to these issues. Many clients that I have worked with have been enormously helped by EMDR, usually in much less time than traditional talk therapy. If you would like to learn more about this, please feel free to call or email me anytime and I'd be happy to discuss it with you!

Groups I Work With
My areas of specialization include anxiety disorders/trauma, and I am trained in EMDR, a first line, evidence based treatment for anxiety and PTSD; I also have a special focus on individuals and families struggling with addiction, or the addiction of a loved one, COA's (Child of Alcoholic), ACOA's (Adult Child of Alcoholic) and co-dependency.
In addition, I provide couples counseling using Developmental Couples Therapy and have completed advanced training from The Couples Institute of Menlo Park. This therapeutic model is based on integrating attachment, differentiation and neuroscience and has proven to be very effective for many couples.
