More Info About My Practice
Do you find yourself stuck focusing on the negative? Are you looking to feel at ease as your authentic self and experience gratifying relationships? Therapy is an opportunity to embrace ourselves, grow, and discover our values.
I have experience in working with adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic illness, co-dependency, narcissistic wounding, toxic relationships, terminal illness, low self-esteem, grief, sexual dysfunction, and experiencing life stressors. I am also a LGBTQ ally. Additionally, I use mindfulness meditation and art healing as tools in the therapeutic process.
Being a therapist is a privilege, and the space held for therapy is nonjudgmental, open, and compassionate.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in working with those who have experienced complex trauma and toxic relationships. Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) is treated differently than PTSD. When children suffer emotional or physical abuse or neglect, they often in adulthood need to parent the parts of themselves the way they were not parented as a child. The therapeutic process of healing CPTSD is as unique as the individual. On top of PTSD symptoms, many survivors experience shame/guilt, negative self-talk, co-dependency, and trouble in relationships. I believe psychoeducation, safety, and knowing we can work through these symptoms are foundation for treatment.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
The two most important factors in choosing a therapist are knowing their specialties and if they receive supervision. Your therapist should be open with you about your diagnosis and treatment options. It is important to ask your therapist their knowledge and experience in working with specific issues (e.i. complex trauma, social anxiety, etc). Supervision is like therapy for therapists, and helps therapists provide the best care possible.
