Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work
I have training in a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and other more solutions-focused and goal oriented tools. When dealing with worry and fear, sleep problems and insomnia, or lack of joy and motivation, CBT is an evidence-based method that requires specialized training and is successful for many people who suffer with some of these issues.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, a mindfulness and values-based living therapy approach, is a primary influence in my work. Many of us are suffering and self-critical, and we live focused on a painful past or the future we're waiting for. I teach mindfulness, self-acceptance, and help you clarify your personal values that bring you into the present moment, living your best life in service to your values, with as much flexibility as possible.
I'm passionate about this approach, and people tell me that they feel supported in taking committed action towards experiencing and feeling all that life has to offer. When we slow down, notice the thoughts and feelings we're having, we can often see ways we're moving away from our goals. I enjoy helping turn this around so you can move towards your most authentic self, thoughtfully and actively.
