My Approach to Helping
I work collaboratively with children, families and adults across the life span. Using a relational, compassionate and a non- judgmental approach, I help people grow beyond dysfunctional relational patterns, recognize behaviors that are no longer working and explore new options for living. As relational trust deepens in a dynamic but safe environment, your own creative energies are freed and your own healing process occurs. My approach, while informed by attachment, relational and psychodynamic theories, is fundamentally client centered and respects your own innate process. My hope is to empower you to feel more in control of your own life and to make positive choices. Sessions are available online via telehealth and for those who have been vaccinated, I am also available to meet with you in my office.
More Info About My Practice
Because people in emotional crisis often are often experiencing financial difficulties as well, I have a sliding scale fee structure ranging between $50 - $130 based on income level individual circumstances. I do not accept insurance at this time but can provide a paid invoice for you to submit directly to your company for reimbursement. Check with your insurance company to learn what their policy is regarding out-of-network providers.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have helped many individuals suffering from substance abuse and other addictions to find their path towards health and sobriety. This process requires courage and is not easy, often involving relapse and discouragement. My focus is on helping you to overcome shame and self recrimination and creating self awareness, understanding and curiousity about what can be learned from experience, both bad as well as good, in the recovery journey. I also assist patients suffering from both chronic and terminal illness and help people to navigate the painful waters of grief and loss, finding strength to carry on and ways to cope and to envision a new future.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
I enjoy helping children and families through times of transition and crises. Children react to distressing situations in their environment over which they have little or no control and play therapy gives them a symbolic language with which to express themselves. I help parents understand their child in this context and explore with them how to better meet both their own and their children's needs, providing emotional support and also practical information to help them meet the challenges of parenting.
