My Approach to Helping
You will find that I am a practical, interactive, very approachable and enjoy a good laugh. I find that humor in sessions is often very helpful in periodically removing some of the stress the ebbs and flows necessarily in therapy sessions.

More Info About My Practice
I offer HOPE & ACTION involving Marriage Family services for individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, extended family and pastors. SPECIAL INTEREST: Cutting edge brain science as it interacts with thinking, emotions and spirituality especially from a Christian perspective. SCOPE: individuals and couples with anxiety, PTSD, depression, and all relationships in crisis. Also communication/conflict resolution & problem solving skills for all. My therapy is collaborative, very interactive, practical and DOWN TO EARTH. I focus on solutions to problems, not just the problems themselves. I give feedback/ direction, teach skills and assist in making changes through between session practice. You will be provided with frequent handouts to build a toolkit for success. First priority: HOPE and PROGRESS ASAP.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

People often seek me out because of my background as a Christian and that I have seminary training from a conservative Christian Seminary. In these therapeutic sessions I am able to provide Biblically based therapy and demonstrate that it is also consistent with what brain science has discovered.

My Therapy Focus

Focus: Cutting edge brain science in sorting out and changing deceptive messages one emotionally feels and believes. This serves well to answer the song lyric: How can it be wrong when it feels so right? Answer: Undetected and unchallenged emotionally charged false beliefs. My therapy can sort this out.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Absolutely! My own struggles have given me an important understanding in that no matter how difficult things are that there is hope. This experience assists me in being able to not only understand what many of my patients are going through but also to encourage them as a fellow struggler that there is hope. This helps me be more acceptable to my patients as I can see that they are comforted that I do not speak to them from a position of perfection. No, we have some things in common and they have greater confidence that I can guide them to the relief that they desire.
