My Approach to Helping
I am a Solution Focused licensed psychologist which means that I am focused on the positives and building upon your strengths. It is a positive, optimistic and nonjudgmental orientation. I use a holistic approach to therapy-humans are physical, spiritual, psychological/cognitive, and emotional beings. A holistic approach considers how you are in all aspects of your life. Having suffered and recovered from some of the disorders I treat (eating disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, bereavement), I understand both personally and professionally what it takes to recover and feel better. My approach is collaborative, supportive, energetic, and interactive.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Studies show that the most important variable in determining therapy outcome is the therapeutic alliance between client and therapist. In my experience, this is absolutely true. If you are not comfortable with your therapist, you will most likely have difficulty forming a positive therapeutic alliance-i.e., working relationship with your therapist. I work very hard on establishing that relationship with my clients. I am genuine and empathetic. The choice of the right therapist is too important to waste time spent with the wrong therapist. If after the first session I don't feel I am the best choice for you, I will help you find someone else who is. The other variable that is critical to the outcome of therapy is the establishment of hope in the first few sessions. In the first session I make every effort to ensure that hope is established by identifying the positives and strengths of the individual (or couple) and outlining ways those strengths can be building blocks to resolving the issues that brought them to therapy.
