My Approach to Helping
I view therapy as an evolving process. It provides an opportunity for me to help you explore whatever is on your mind. I follow your lead during sessions, going at the pace feels comfortable for you. Some people come to their first session with a list of things they want to talk about, while other people schedule an appointment not sure where to start. For some people it is an exciting and refreshing to begin therapy, for others it may feel overwhelming or scary. I am happy to work with you no matter what your thoughts or feelings.....we will start WHERE-EVER you need to. People can loose sight of themselves and their inner strength when they are under stress, and I am here to help you unload so that you can re-engage in your life.

More Info About My Practice
My practice offers specialized treatment in trauma. I work with survivors of sexual abuse/assault/rape. I want my office to be a safe place, where you let go of the pain and hurt and begin to move forward. Going at your own pace is important. Healing takes time and I am here to support you in that endeavor. Please call me to discuss your worries or fears that may come up when you think about talking to someone about this part of your life. I am here to listen and work with you when you are ready. I look forward to hearing from you.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

What I say to people is that just because you may have had a negative experience with your first therapist, or perhaps even your second, doesn't mean you have to rule out therapy all together. As with other things in life, sometimes it takes time to find the right therapist. I view therapy as a process and it is very important that you feel comfortable with who ever you choose to work with. It is very important to feel as open as possible with your therapist, and when my clients have had negative experiences in the past I want to know all about it. I want to make sure that I do what I can to understand your past experiences so that we can create a new healthier experience when you are working with me. Sometimes people perceive one session as negative and don't want to talk to their therapist it, instead they just stop going to therapy. I would much rather have the opportunity to know what is hard or what you didn't like so that we create an good environment together, so that you can explore whatever is on your mind. I know that it may feel difficult to bring up things that you didn;t enjoy about your past experiences but it will certainly help us work with one another in a different way.
