My Approach to Helping
Based on personal experience, I understand how frustrating it can be to open up about my feelings, particularly if I'm unsure that I'm being heard accurately (or at all) by the person to whom I'm talking. Each time a client takes a risk and opens up to me about his or her personal story, I feel honored to have been invited to help. My style is interactive, respectful, and insight-oriented. Many have described me as supportive, warm, and with a sense of humor, all which make me easy to talk to about difficulties. I use an integrative approach and primarily draw from interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral models. I believe it is important to explore primary relationships as well as significant childhood experiences that have shaped one's patterns within current relationships. Not only do I encourage client movement toward increased insight, I also facilitate one's efforts to make important life changes to contribute to a happier, more fulfilling life. My hope is that I can provide a safe space for you to explore your concerns. If it seems like we may be a good fit, I invite you to call me at (301) 654-1203 for a free phone consultation.
