My Approach to Therapy

You are noticing that some of the things that you experienced as a child affected you in many ways. Now that you are a parent, you are seeking support to parent your young children differently. My specialty is working with new and prospective parents to help them explore their parenting beliefs, learn the essentials of infant and early childhood development, and gain practical, real-life parenting skills that are designed to foster a loving and secure parent-child bond with children who feel loved, supported and respected.

My Practice & Services

I am the founder and executive director of PlayfulLeigh Psyched, a teletherapy practice. I started this practice two years before the pandemic to address the fact that transportation has been a barrier to mental health and parenting support for far too long, especially in marginalized communities. In actuality, I found that most people have access to a smartphone, even many people who are unhomed, but gaining access to transportation is far more difficult. Therefore, providing people with high-quality services remotely became my mission. PlayfulLeigh Psyched has been able to help people in Maryland, Florida, and Missouri and counting. My patients know that they are working with a therapist and a practice that understands how to deliver safe and appropriate telehealth services as more than a knee-jerk response to the global crisis. At PlayfulLeigh Psyched, you and your information will be safe and protected while we support you through this time in your life. PlayfulLeigh, Dr. Dowtin
