My Approach to Helping

Whether you are faced with a current challenge or are trying to tackle some issues that have been problematic for a while, therapy can help. Profound and lasting change can come from being in a therapeutic relationship that is attuned, genuine and deeply caring. This relationship needs to be one in which you feel safe enough to share your struggles, express difficult emotions and take risks toward change. My goal is to help you feel all of this and feel supported and understood while also challenging you to access and develop your strengths and potential for a fuller, more meaningful life. I hope to form a relationship with you that you will come to trust and value. I look forward to meeting you and helping you address the aspects of your life that you wish to understand more fully.

Together, we work to find clarity, authenticity and a better understanding of yourself, your relationships and difficult experiences. I am experienced with and dedicated to working through the root causes of your concerns as well as addressing and easing difficult, confusing or secret feelings and behaviors. I listen and guide you through your growth and healing process.

In addition to bringing many years of experience, my way of working takes all of who you are into consideration -- your mind, body, spirit, family, community and culture. My style is warm, open and engaged. My approach is active, interactive, responsive, curious, and respectful; offering feedback with a compassionate blend of support and challenge. I work at a level of depth but I am also practical and down to earth, integrating inquiry, conversation and mind-body techniques. I communicate in direct and authentic ways with thoughtfulness and care.

I have extensive experience working with a wide range of issues including helping people working through trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, childhood emotional neglect, life transitions, issues around sexuality, addiction, law or medical or graduate school stress, ACOA and other family concerns. I specialize in helping people who have cultivated their intellect and creativity and who would now like to develop their emotional and relational worlds. Many people find that although they come in to work on a particular problem, not only is that better, but they also experience many positive changes that they never could have anticipated.

Think we might be a good fit? Please don't hesitate to reach out. I'm happy to schedule a complimentary 20 minute consultation.
