My Approach to Helping
Whether this is the first time you're seeking therapy or if you have done this before, the process can be overwhelming. However, when the therapy relationship is one in which you feel deeply listened to and understood you can begin to feel safe enough to make profound changes toward a more fulfilling life. Together, we work to build your experiences of hope, trust, clarity, vitality and a life of deeper satisfaction.
I work to help you feel supported and understood while also challenging you to access and develop your strengths and potential for a fuller, more emotionally rewarding and meaningful life. My style is warm, caring and respectful. My approach is active and responsive; offering feedback with a compassionate blend of support and challenge. I work at a level of depth but I am also practical and down to earth. I integrate inquiry, conversation and, when appropriate, mind-body techniques (i.e., mindfulness, somatic awareness, guided imagery) and 12-Step support.
I bring a deep appreciation for human complexity. My extensive experience facilitating courageous conversations help you work through the problems that interfere with your daily life. This may include experiences with trauma, complex family dynamics, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, childhood abuse and neglect, grief, loss, difficult military experiences, issues around sexuality, addiction, ACOA and other family concerns. I specialize in helping people who have achieved both educational and professional success and who would now like to develop their emotional and relational worlds. I hope to meet the parts of you that long to be met.
