I practice a synthesis of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Contemplative Psychotherapy, and Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy. DBT works by helping the client build new skills in self-awareness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal communication. Contemplative and Rogerian Psychotherapy start with a focus on listening to the client and trusting that they hold the key to their own growth and healing. I work with individual adult clients who are dealing with depression, anxiety, anger, grief, relationship issues, the effects of trauma, or substance and behavioral addictions. I also work with individuals looking for support with personal growth and spiritual issues.
I have been a meditation practitioner for twelve years, which informs the depth with which I listen to and seek to understand my clients. I do my best to stay true to five attitudes, which create an environment conducive to healing and growth: trust, appreciation, respect, empathy, and genuineness.
