My Approach to Helping

My approach is holistic, meaning seeing you as a whole person. We will look at the biological, psychological, social and spiritual roots of your issues and find ways to build upon and strengthen your abilities in these areas to provide you with a custom fit solution; Together we will come up with a plan to assist you in finding more peace, happiness, balance and meaning.
Here's how that might unfold:

Your Story: There is great comfort in being heard. Just having someone really listen and validate your experience can be, in itself, healing. You are a unique individual. You have come to this point in your life with your unique strengths and gifts, having experienced your particular set of circumstances, trials and tribulations.

New Story: The next step is finding new meaning in your life's stories and new possibilities. I use a strengths based model of therapy and will actively encourage you to view yourself and your behaviors, not through the lens of pathology but as adaptive. We will take a look at the behaviors you want to change and see how they have served you. Chances are, they probably provided you with some pretty important benefits, but may also have some negative side effects, that are not so helpful.

The Next Chapter: What must be done to make the new story a reality? In order to successfully change behavior you will need to find a coping mechanism that has fewer negative consequences. I will use all my skills, training, intuition, humor, wisdom and compassion, and encourage you to access your strengths, gift and talents to find solutions that work for you. I'll encourage you to connect to your authentic power, to tap into and strengthen your core essence, as well as access new and different resources.
