My Approach to Helping
I use an experiential approach in counseling, where we follow the thoughts, feelings, emotions, and sensations that are occurring in the present moment as the window to explore deeper held beliefs.
Together, we explore what is at the core of these beliefs and find new ways of understanding and holding the experiences you have had, to bring forward an updated perspective that leads from your most authentic, empowered self.
Through feeling ourselves, we can know ourselves, and through knowing ourselves, we have greater capacity for self-acceptance and the empowerment to choose the life we want to live.
Drawing from my training in The Hakomi Method of Mindful and Somatic Psychotherapy as well as psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, person-centered psychotherapy, and depth psychology, I use mindfulness, body-awareness, touch, movement, and dreamwork to help facilitate my client's process.
More Info About My Practice
I work with individuals for various reasons ranging from those who are seeking to understand themselves more, create more depth and harmony in their interpersonal relationships, embody and express their sexuality, find meaning in their work and social lives, move through trauma, process grief, and work with existing conditions like depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia, and other forms of mental health diagnoses.
First and foremost, I base my counseling on creating a strong therapeutic relationship in which my clients can feel comfortable just being themselves. I'm a lover of uniqueness and idiosyncrasies, and have a knack for putting people at ease with me, and I work genuinely to create this kind of trust in our relationship.
In our work together, it is my goal to help you access the parts of yourself that are striving to come forward so that you can live a more satisfying and fulfilling life. I do not work to define what is right for you, but rather observe and collaborate with you to find the direction your path is moving you.
