My Approach to Helping

I am a therapist because I believe life was meant to have purpose and meaning. I also believe people are relational at our very core and that, many times, purpose and meaning happen in the context of relationships. However, it doesn't take long to recognize that relationships also create the potential for stress and pain. I work with individuals, couples and families to help create safe relationships in which people can grow, change, and reach their full potential. Whether you are a newly-married couple or a couple in the midst of divorce, I believe your life will be richer if you can live in harmonious and respectful relationships.

My fee is $90/session. I am in-network with straight MA, HealthPartners, and BCBS insurance and also have a sliding fee scale for cash clients. Visa, Mastercard, Discover accepted.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I love that I get to walk with people into the places inside themselves and their relationships that they are scared to show others and that others might be scared to go with them. When enough saftey and trust are created that we can look honestly at who we are, exciting changes start to occur that help people feel free in ways they never have before. This is an exciting and very humbling adventure to get to live with the very brave souls who decice to take it.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

My own life struggles have created deep empathy in me for those who are hurting. I have experienced struggles in many of my primary relationsihps that my clients come in to talk about. I strongly believe that the most effective therapists are those who have been to therapy themselves. I do not believe we can help people take a journey we haven't been willing to take. Even if I have not experienced the exact circumstances as one of my clients has, the process of vulnerably sharing your experience and inviting another person into them with you is difficult no matter what you've been through. I can relate to that process because of my committment to my own therapy and beleive that helps me create trust and safety for clients when they come to see me.
