Carol Silbergeld, LCSW, BCD, is an experienced psychotherapist who has been in practice for over thirty years. She provides consultation, evaluation and treatment services to individuals, couples, parents, adolescents and children. She also provides supervision to mental health professionals. In addition, she mediates between separated parents, helps them develop cooperative parenting skills, to learn how to communicate in a constructive manner and helps them create practical and developmentally appropriate shared parenting plans. She received an MSS degree from the Bryn Mawr College School of Social Work in 1973. In addition to her private practice, she has been on the staffs of Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Jewish Family and Children's Services in New York, the Reiss-Davis Child Study Center in Los Angeles (for 25 years) where she created and directed a Children of Divorce Clinic counseling children and parents and supervising the clinical staff. She chaired the Social Work Department and remained on the teaching faculty where she taught postgraduate Fellows. In 1998, she joined the staff of the Los Angeles Child Development Center where she created a school-based divorce counseling program and a court counseling program. Ms. Silbergeld's professional training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic, family systems and cognitive psychotherapies. She uses an eclectic, pragmatic approach to a broad range of problems. She has published articles about psychodynamic psychotherapy, written a group treatment manual entitled, Meeting Children on their Own Grounds. She has frequently presented papers at conferences for mental health professionals and family law attorneys. Her professional memberships include the National Association of Social Workers, The Society for Clinical Social Work, the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work, the Los Angeles Collorative Family Law Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is also listed in Who's Who in America.
