My Approach to Helping
Are you struggling with a problem that you can't figure out a solution to? Are you feeling frustrated, stuck, or overwhelmed by it? There are times in life when the advice and help of family and friends is not enough to help us fix our problems. This is the time to consult with a trained professional. When I start therapy with a new client, we work together to identify the current problem and the goals for therapy. Then I will custom-tailor a treatment plan that best suits who you are.
My strongest skill as a clinician is helping my clients to understand themselves better, and to understand others better as well. Once we understand ourselves and others in new ways, it opens up many new solutions to our problems. This then leads to more satisfying relationships with romantic partners, friends, family, and co-workers.
In addition to "talk" therapy, I use imagery and visualization techniques to help clients identify what underlying beliefs and fears are keeping them stuck, and to envision new solutions. Although I listen intently to my clients, I am also very active during sessions: giving feedback, teaching therapeutic exercises, as well as being supportive and encouraging.
