My Approach to Helping
I am here to give you actionable solutions and work with you to apply those solutions in your life. I am here to help to listen.
Are you caught in a storm of stress and anxiety that continually disturbs your peace of mind? Do you feel isolated in your struggle, overwhelmed by emotions that keep you confined and interfere with your daily tasks and personal relationships? Has past trauma redefined how you view the world and yourself? Let me reassure you: you're not alone. I am here to give you actionable solutions and work with you to apply those solutions in your life. I am here to help, to listen, and to guide you to where you want to be. More than just providing temporary relief, my aim is for you to have the skills to become your own therapist.
As a therapist, I provide individual remote therapy services throughout North Carolina, specializing in trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. While I work with all adults, I also have expertise in supporting service members, veterans, first responders, and students. I aim to make therapy accessible, flexible, confidential, and uniquely tailored to your needs.
My therapeutic approach is deeply influenced by my own experiences. After high school, I served as a combat medic in Afghanistan, where I witnessed immense trauma. Upon returning to the U.S., I observed the lasting impact of trauma and anxiety on daily life. I later worked as a paramedic in a homeless shelter during the COVID-19 pandemic while attending school. This role exposed me to various forms of trauma, including childhood abuse, partner violence, and assaults. I also personally experienced the trauma of being a first responder during a global crisis. I've noticed that while each person's trauma is unique, the effects often display common patterns, similar to anxiety. Both can drastically affect how we think and feel about the world, hindering us from reaching our true potential. That's why I primarily use evidence-based cognitive therapies aimed at addressing these automatic thoughts and feelings.
I believe that while we can't forget our past traumas and we won't be able to rid ourselves of all feelings of anxiety, I can help you reach a place where you feel in control of your life and rediscover joy in what used to bring you happiness. In working with past clients to achieve a sense of control and calm, I've found the most success in addressing the automatic thoughts that can keep us stuck, particularly if we have a history of trauma or anxiety. Every individual is distinct, which is why my therapeutic approach is both personalized and dynamic. Recognizing that there's no one-size-fits-all in therapy, I am committed to finding the strategies that resonate best with you. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Let's embark on this journey together.
