My Approach to Helping

Hello, I'm Whitney Perdun M.A. LCPC, ATR-BC, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Board Certified Art Therapist working with individuals, families, and couples of all ages. When life complications, such as ongoing stress, major life changes, grief, identity crisis, relationship conflict, family issues, or trauma are present in our world, we all naturally start to unravel. My ambition is to help my clients bring balance back into their lives, build healthy relationships and form a sense of understanding, peace, and safety within themselves and with their loved ones. We all have maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that can be changed to bring about a more positive environment for us

Not one single modality is right for every individual, couple, or family. I take an eclectic approach to include but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems, Grief Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, and Structural Planning. Every person is an individual and I strongly believe that treatment should be tailored to complement the character within. When words are not comfortable I integrate Art Therapy techniques as an alternative to a direct verbal approach. This technique is utilized most often when working with children or when trauma creates a block in communication.
