My Approach to Helping

Hello and welcome!

Therapy can be a great step in carving out the time and the space you need to focus on your needs and what has been getting in the way of you living your life most authentically. Are you in need of finding better balance in your life? Maybe you need a space to be curious, creative, or express yourself?

My passion is helping people heal from trauma and connect to themselves holistically. I have a deep reverence and admiration for my clients’ ability to heal. I believe we build feelings of resiliency and empowerment through processing stress and conflict. I believe that people can experience the most growth in a nonjudgmental environment, and I provide this by meeting clients with compassion wherever they are in their journey. It is no problem if you are new to therapy or if you have had a negative experience in the past; it’s a collaborative process. I am here to support you in figuring out how to get started and what you need and want from your sessions.

I have experience working with many different problems and mental health symptoms and embrace folks from all walks of life. I provide gender-affirming care and advocacy including writing letters of support for gender-affirming medical care utilizing the WPATH Standards of Care. I am competent in providing therapy using a client-centered approach and CBT, DBT, ACT and mindfulness-based skills. I am also newly trained in EMDR and am looking forward to seeing clients interested in trying this treatment option. I am happy to answer any questions or provide resources to help you decide if EMDR may be a good fit for you.

As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I seek to provide a safe space that is sex and body positive, honors neurodiversity, celebrates all bodies and differences in abilities, and embraces people from all racial, ethnic, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Finding a good connection in therapy is important and the research strongly supports this! I encourage people to find someone that you can ask questions and be met with thoughtful feedback. Choose a therapist that you can confront when you need to and will respond appropriately by valuing your needs and processing the individual impact it has on you and the relationship you are forming. A good therapist takes accountability, isn't afraid to admit their mistakes, doesn't take it personally, validates your experience, and keeps working toward removing any implicit bias or internalized racism.
