My Approach to Helping
I am an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Stanford University and provide therapy to adults in my private practice. I enjoy helping clients become "unstuck" from painful thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns. These struggles may be new, or they may have been present for some time. Examples may include feelings of low self-worth, difficulty feeling connected to others, intrusive or "looping" thoughts, trouble managing anxiety and worry, or difficulty moving forward from a traumatic event or period of life.
I have expertise in research-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused therapies, among others. I help clients cultivate understanding and clarity, address problematic thinking patterns, make changes where necessary, and develop acceptance and adaptation when needed.
I see clients in-person and via secure video. For more information, please visit my website at drvaleriehoover.com.
