My Approach to Helping
Throughout my journey, I have always been curious about people and how they relate to one another. My approach as a therapist is centered in transparency, authenticity, and directiveness. I work with individuals, couples, and youth aged 16+ and offer a free consultation to ensure I am the right fit for your journey.
I believe therapy can be a fundamental tool in maintaining one’s mental health, and I believe my character and interests are well suited to support clients through this journey. My goal as a therapist is to create a supportive environment for clients to help gain fresh insights and achieve growth and change in their lives.
As a therapist, I believe we need to first understand the root of the problem, before exploring any opportunities for solutions and my approach involves the process of understanding and exploration, learning, and growth. Throughout my extensive scholastic endeavours and training, I am well versed in several modalities including cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, emotion-focused therapy, Gestalt therapy, and psychoanalysis. Once the areas and obstacles have been recognized, I support clients in the work of digesting, processing, and recovery as we work towards establishing new insights, a deeper awareness, and alternative perspectives.
My primary focus is to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with clients and to then utilize different modalities and approaches, based on the identified problems, goals, and clients’ personalities. Throughout my work, I am grounded in a strength-based perspective, working to help clients recognize their previous successes, drawing on their own power and agency. I work with clients through a multitude of areas listed below.
