My Approach to Helping
As a clinically trained family therapist, I work with couples, families, and individuals alone. However, I recommend that family have at least some involvement where possible. Particularly when it comes to addiction. The entire family is affected when one person has an addiction. My practice is unlike other addiction treatments in that my main focus is on the family dynamics that create and are influenced by a person who is in the addictive behavior cycle. My specialty is the addicted person who either refuses treatment or can't seem to benefit from traditional therapies. As a Licensed and Certified Mental Health therapist with 30 years of experience in the helping professions, I offer effective, compassionate, non-judgemental approaches combined with cognitive and behavioral therapies. I specialize in Internet addiction, sexual addiction, drug addiction, and alcohol addiction, as well as depression, spiritual counseling, couples therapy, anger management, and more.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
The purpose of psychotherapy is to help the family see what dynamics are continuing to influence the addictive cycle as well as how affect change in those communications that create lasting positive change. When working one on one, psychotherapy will help the client to identify self defeating thoughts, beliefs and resulting life choices and then to replace the with healthy affirmations and core beliefs. My role is to help the client see how he or she can find happiness and joy and success by making changes in their thought patterns and behavior choices.
