My Approach to Helping
I believe that every feeling in your body and mind has a story to tell about your past and your present, and healing begins when we listen with compassion to those stories. Whatever you are facing, together you and I will gently explore which parts of you are asking for more care, and where you might access more nourishment and resource. We will practice tools to help settle your nervous system and make challenging feelings less overwhelming. We will get curious about your inner world (including your feelings, your dreams, your creativity and imagination), strengthening your connection with your intuitive wisdom and sense of aliveness.
My work is trauma-informed and influenced by relational psychotherapy (trying out ways of relating in therapy, as a sort of "lab experience" for real life), depth psychotherapy (paying attention together to what's under the surface of daily life, in your unconscious), and somatic therapy (calming your body so you have more space to address what's happening).
I hold an MA in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School and have studied somatic practices through a 60-hour Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certificate program with The Embody Lab.
