My Approach to Helping
My area of expertise involves helping adults with interpersonal relationship and family issues. I provide a trusting, warm, and nonjudgmental space where people in therapy may share their concerns, receive support, and feel accepted. I collaborate with individuals, families, and couples to identify presenting concerns, determine the positive changes that need to be made, and devise practical strategies to reach their goals.
Some of the concerns we may address in practice include infidelity, diminished trust, a lack of communication, separation, divorce, a lack of intimacy, remarriage, as well as making a decision whether or not to stay in the current relationship. I also enjoy assisting parents manage the demands of parenthood, adopt new parenting styles, learn new ways to administer discipline, balance family and work responsibilities, and resolve serious issues in the family.
I employ a person-centered approach to treatment in order to promote the development of a strong therapeutic relationship. I firmly believe that when therapists and individuals in therapy demonstrate respect and trust in each other, the foundation is laid for self-discovery, positive change, and growth. My objective is to help the people in my care learn effective coping skills and find solutions to the major issues they face in life.
