My Approach to Helping
My job is to journey beside you with endless curiosity, to help you ask yourself new (and sometimes scary) questions that tap into your wisdom, your boundless pleasure, and the connection you want to cultivate. There aren’t many places to turn to when you have questions about your body, about why your relationship feels so stuck, or why it’s so damn scary to ask for what you want. This is what I am here for. To give you the space to explore without judgement.
My goal is to help you to thrive and grow. I do this by working with individuals and couples to address the issues that may be preventing them from achieving personal, sexual, and relational health. I strive to help one explore and process the experience, rewire the traumatized areas of the brain, and to love themselves.
I recognize that you live within various systems (i.e. family, work, culture, etc.) that impacts your way of life in diverse ways, and that counseling must include these components in the process. I view therapy as collaborative teamwork, cooperatively setting and working towards goals. I will help you identify difficulties or concerns that you are experiencing. Together, we will develop ways to overcome these obstacles. As the counselor, I’m not here to tell you the answers to the problem but we will work together as a team to find the answers. While I may provide some advice or direction, it is my intention that we explore your feelings, choices, and goals to discover the most appropriate and healthy decisions for your life.
