My Approach to Helping
Using a caring and insightful approach, I help clients have a better understanding of their emotions and experiences, which enables them to make better life choices. Together we can explore what area of your life you would like to create change in, and how we can implement this change.
Each session is catered towards the individual, to ensure that your therapeutic journey is both helpful and enjoyable. Therapy should be a comfortable environment where one can both laugh and cry, as both are the body's way of strengthening itself.
I have been in the field for over 13 years, and love what I do. My goal is to have you feel good about coming to therapy, and empower you to become your best self.
More Info About My Practice
The insurance plans I accept are Medicare and BCBS.
If I do not take your insurance I am happy to provide documentation and assistance regarding out of network benefits.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in work with adolescents and young adults, helping people navigate through times in their life that often bring on change and uncertainty.
I am currently running two groups- one is for young adult women, and one for adolescent girls. I have done presentations at university counseling centers on group work, and the particular benefits that this modality can bring.
My specialties also include Trauma Focused CBT, and I have trained other therapists to use this treatment method.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Studies show that one of the strongest factors correlating with the effectiveness of therapy is the therapeutic alliance. When choosing a therapist you want to make sure you are working with someone with whom you feel comfortable. My modality specifically focuses on this strong therapeutic relationship, and I cater the relationship to each individual person.
If you are not sure who would be a good fit for you, try a couple of initial sessions with different therapists. There is no harm in "shopping around" to see who will be best for you.
