My Approach to Helping
I believe each person already has the strengths they need in order to succeed and obtain the life they want. My role as your therapist is to help you recognize and grow them so that you can use them effectively in your personal life and in relationships. My approach is collaborative, and your needs and goals come first for me always. My job is not to give advice, but to help you consider areas of your life that you may want to consider changing to improve the quality of your relationships. While I don't "tell you what to do", I do provide techniques and tools that will help you change those areas. I work with you to decide what differences you'd like to make and then help you achieve those goals.
More Info About My Practice
I work at Ellie Mental Health in Meridian and I am currently offering both Telehealth and in-person appointments.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in helping couples who are dealing with communication issues, infidelity, or phase of life problems as well as those who are seeking premarital counseling. It is wonderful to watch couples repair damaged relationships and go on to have happy, fulfilled marriages. During couples counseling, I use a variety of techniques pioneered by John Gottman and Milan and Kay Yerkovich, among others.
I am also specifically trained in treating perinatal mood disorders such as postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, and postpartum OCD. These are incredibly common and there is no reason why a woman and her family should have to suffer through them alone. I offer education and tools to help clients get through it, as well as support for family members who are struggling to understand how to be helpful. I also help women explore their identity now that they're integrating it with their role as a mother.
