My Approach to Therapy

I provide trauma therapy in Boise, Idaho for adults struggling with PTSD, anxiety, ADHD-related challenges, emotional overwhelm, and relationship difficulties. Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to break—overthinking, emotional shutdown, avoidance, or feeling disconnected from themselves and others. Even when you understand where your patterns come from, change can still feel difficult on your own. You may find yourself repeating the same cycles, reacting in ways that don’t match your values, or feeling like you should be further along than you are. My approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on helping you change your relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions so they no longer have as much control over your life. Instead of trying to eliminate discomfort, we work on building psychological flexibility so you can respond more intentionally and move toward what matters to you. When trauma or PTSD symptoms continue to show up in daily life, I also integrate EMDR therapy to help reduce the emotional intensity of distressing experiences so they feel less overwhelming and less present in the here and now. Therapy is a collaborative process focused on helping you get unstuck from patterns that no longer serve you. The goal is not to “fix” who you are, but to help you better understand yourself and create meaningful change aligned with your values. Over time, clients often notice they feel more grounded, less reactive, and more able to handle difficult emotions without becoming overwhelmed by them. Many also experience improved relationships, clearer boundaries, and a stronger sense of direction in life. Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. Whether you are dealing with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, or emotional overwhelm, you do not need to have everything figured out before starting. Therapy can be a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported without judgment.
