Sarah Baker is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) who has 22 years of experience serving multiple populations and working with people experiencing various mental illnesses, personality disorders, and a variety of life adjustments/changes. Sarah has worked with children experiencing impulse control issues, poor/limited concentration, defiant behaviors, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), depression, anxiety, and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD). Her primary focus has been with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma and/or who experience mood disorders, working both with the child and their caregiver for a holistic approach to improve overall functioning. With adult populations, Sarah has a long background and experience in the area of adult survivors of child abuse, adults who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence, severe and persistent mental illness, divorce/separation, hoarding, grief and loss, marriage/couples counseling, geriatrics, anger management, and parenting skill building. Sarah completed her Bachelor or Social Work (BSW) at Minnesota State and her Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She has previous experience as a School Based Mental Health Provider and an outpatient clinician. Sarah has worked as a therapist in sexual assault, domestic violence, private practice, intensive in-home, family centered treatment, and outpatient therapy. She uses an eclectic approach to treatment incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), trauma informed therapy, family centered treatment, solution focused recovery, multiple parent education strategies, motivational interviewing, and mindful practice. One of Sarah's favorite quotes is "An unexamined life is not worth living." Therapy is a beneficial tool to support people who are examining their life and striving to be the best version of themselves. Working with young people has been a gift of planting seeds and building tools that last a lifetime in the area of stress management and problem solving. For Sarah, being a part of an individual’s healing journey and supporting individuals as they encounter change and overcome challenges is the greatest reward.
