My Approach to Helping
Do you want a therapist who is knowledgeable, flexible, and can offer a variety of approaches, including medication if needed? From evidence-based structured treatments like CBT, CPT and DBT to spiritualartistic ones like mindfulness, gestalt therapy, and psychodynamic, we can address issues in whatever combination of ways works best for you.
I believe that seeking therapy is a sign of hopefulness, flexibility, courage, and self-awareness, so when I push for change it's coming from a place of great respect and fondness for the people I work with; it's hard not to like someone who is willing to invest the energy and time to try to heal themselves.
I hope that whatever therapist you find, on this site or elsewhere, will listen long enough to know you well but not so long that you feel alone with your problems; will treat you with respect and also be honest and specific with you about what's not working; will respond to your doubts or questions without defensiveness and as a fellow human being as well as a professional. I hope that you will leave your therapist's office struck by how simple and obvious certain things are, whereas before you could not see them at all. That's the mark of a helpful therapist... that and helping you reach your goals, of course.
