My Approach to Helping
Being able to enjoy coming to therapy is a key piece to getting the most out of treatment. I strive to create an environment that is welcoming, open, and accepting. For as long as we continue to shelter in place I will continue to offer sessions online. Telehealth offers the benefit of being able to connect anywhere with secure and convenient appointments. Through audio and video over the internet, you can meet from your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device.
My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable being you. In order to help you achieve your goals I believe it is important for us to work collaboratively. I specialize in CBT because its an evidence based treatment that shows high efficacy in working with lots of different kinds of struggles people may be facing. Also, because it focuses on having a collaborative relationship where you are empowered to be able to work through potential future issues without needing to rely on a therapist.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
I recommend starting out at 1 session per week every week for at least 8-10 weeks. At that point I like to revisit your original goals to see if we are making progress. I've mentioned before that having a therapist you feel comfortable with is crucial. Follow your instincts. If you get a strong feeling that you are not with the right therapist after 3-4 sessions I strongly encourage you to bring this up with your therapist. Depending on your personal goal for therapy, it can last anywhere from 8 weeks to a year (or more). Periodically checking on progress towards goals is highly recommended.
