My Approach to Helping
Everyone has feelings of all kinds but sometimes it's the ways we experience them and the world that ends up limiting our life, even in challenging circumstances. Therapy can help. I work with the whole person; spiritual, physical, emotional, and intellectual. I tend toward engaged and warm as a style of my work and personality. I believe you have resilience, and knowing you need support is part of that. What is most healing according to the research, in therapy, is the relationship that is forged between client and clinician. If this feels right I would love to hear from you.
More Info About My Practice
People come in for so many reasons, I have helped people through, loneliness, anxiety, and depression, grief, transitions, and other wounds. I might be someone who can be with you in a new and different way, so you can experience yourself differently, as I have been for others. I hope that through our work together, you find the closure and or the opening you need to move forward in your life your way.
Here are some ways I have worked to be the therapist I am: After graduating from UW with an MSW, I did a post Graduate internship with the Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Study and another two-year advanced training in Somatic Transformation and am now a Certified Somatic Transformation Practitioner.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
I say you are right to be concerned. Your wisdom and power and agency are essential. I try to emphasize that I am human and that you have the right to ask for what you want and need as we move forward. I work to be accountable to you. If you have a hard time asking for what you want or correcting someone who misunderstands you, I am a good person to practice that with, and therapy is the perfect opportunity.
