My Approach to Helping

Life can be lonely, depressing, anxiety-inducing or just complicated. I am here to meet you exactly where you are. As a couples and individual therapist, I work with men's issues, women who have experienced hurt by men, people experiencing low self-esteem, relationship issues, and those grappling with the larger questions of life around meaning, purpose and spirituality. I create a warm space where you can feel heard with no judgement.

More Info About My Practice

In addition to my work with couples and individuals, I am also the founder and facilitator of a weekly Men's Group that meets in-person in Fort Collins, Colorado. Men often leave the group feeling more connected, less alone, more confident in themselves and inspired to make real change in their lives. Common topics that arise include romantic relationships, loneliness, career, purpose, managing emotions, regret, shame and sex.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Therapy can become a ritual of coming back to yourself again and again. It can help you cultivate an intentionality around taking time to pause and find clarity. In the brave space of therapy, you get to come into contact with who you are without all of the external distractions. From there you may feel inspired to make real change in your life. Change that doesn't come from what society pressures you to do but instead change that comes from your authentic and true self.

My Guiding Ethical Principles

I believe in the basic goodness of all people and that none of us are broken or need to be fixed. Instead, what we may perceive as our faults are actually wise parts of ourselves that want to be heard and met with compassion and respect. This also means that I believe in your inherent wisdom as my client. While some therapists see themselves as a guru imparting wisdom to a disciple, I approach therapy as two fellow humans connecting. I act from a conviction in our shared humanity and a belief that you are the expert of your own experience.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I have heard some heartbreaking stories of harm done by therapists to clients. All I can say is that I view our relationship as sacred and built on the foundation of trust and deep respect. If I can be the therapist that helps you feel heard and connected, it would be my honor. We can take it very, very slow.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

It is really up to you how long or frequent you would like to go to therapy. I usually suggest we see each other every week to start so I can get to know you sooner and we can build some momentum together. Sometimes clients move to an every-other-week schedule if they are feeling better and in need of less support. I am here on an as needed basis. We can check in around what feels most helpful as our relationship grows and there is never any pressure to continue therapy at a fixed pace.
