My Approach to Helping

You’ve taken the “right” steps to work towards your goals, yet it feels like you never get ahead in your personal or family life. Behind closed doors, you (or your relationship) are coming apart at the seams and you just want a break! You think you should feel happy, yet some days it’s hard to find the motivation to even get out of bed. You're not sure of the direction that you want to go, but you know something's got to give! You’re ready for peace in your life (and probably ready for a good night's sleep). I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to need help and that you can have a life that makes you excited!

I work with clients ages 9+. As a former educator and child advocate, I have approximately 15 years of experience working with individuals across the lifespan. I address symptoms in minor clients while helping to bring families closer together. My experience working with families has helped me understand that all humans are ultimately seeking connection with others. But let's face it, relationships (whether they're romantic, familial, or friendly) can be tough! Because we each bring unique experiences, backgrounds, and cultures to the table, love is not always enough to sustain a healthy partnership.

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, I'll meet you where you're at. We will focus on the "how" and the "why." Why did you get to this point, and how do we get you to where you want to be? I’m a real person focused on creating relaxed and genuine connections with my clients. I might wear jeans to work and we can use all the bad words in my office. I provide a judgement-free zone. I believe that life is too short to not have a baby animal in your home at all times, but I won't discriminate if you don't want to see my pet pictures! If you want to know more about how I can help, shoot me a message.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Before becoming a therapist, I was an educator for many years which helped me understand how disruptions in early developmental stages affects clients throughout their lifespan. From there I transitioned into child advocacy work and began pursuing clinical licensure. Seeing children and families in crisis spotlighted the importance of access to mental health services. My background in child and human development, along with years spent assessing the unique experiences and traumas of individuals taught me that healthy relationships and healthy families are crucial! I love helping people find a balance between freedom and accountability in relationships and have a passion for helping couple's find healing through love, understanding, and positive communication.

In addition to my professional identity, I am also a wife of a first responder and a mom to three wonderful (albeit maddeningly energetic) boys. We do sports, we do rough-housing, and we do LOUD very well. In addition to being a rowdy bunch, we have also spent the last seven years blending this amazing family. Divorce recovery and blended family issues are something that I specialize in and have experienced personally. When we start talking about these hard topics in counseling, know that I've been there, done that, still have the t-shirt and am here to hold space for you to discuss how these things personally impact your life.
